School daze
I know i'm quite late for back to school, but better now than never. Im not quite sure if these young men are related, however both of these photos came from the same lot, so its a good possibility.

Pik Nik
I guess I've been a little neglectful of updating posts here lately. I blame the summer heat, it makes everyone a little forgetful. These people were probably enjoying one of those lazy, hot afternoons as well. I love all of these haircuts, especially the girl in the front with her hairpin to the side.

An evening with the Frankenstein's
Of course the biggest draw of this image is the caption. Was it mocking their frigid stares as the cash went off, or simply a last name. Either way its a pretty neat title. As for the photo itself, It's a pretty average snap. It is a bit unusual in that it is so clear. Most amateur photos had a little bit of shake to them, especially indoors. It's probably down to the flash used. Also of note is the girl on the left. She was probably a bobby soxer, a term for some teenage girls in the forties. They were characterized by wearing saddle shoes, chunky sweaters, and of course bobby socks. They would spend their time at soda shops and listening to Frank Sinatra, as well as other teenage heartthrobs.

Save the last dance for me
What a great way to finish off the school year than with a dance. This does not look like a formal prom, but more of a private affair. These two couples look as if they just started a slow dance. Probably good news for the girl in the heels. I couldn't imagine how she could do anything like the twist or watussi in those.

Lying on the ground
Some great sundresses out on the lawn of an unknown park. Probably a picnic for just the girls. Not a very noteworthy photo at a glance, but after a few minuets of looking at it I couldn't help but have my eyes drawn to the woman in the centre. She's the only one that is looking directly into the lens. Not much else to say about this one.

Cubish
All of these photos lend themselves very well to the square format, especially the last one. The border also helps give them a sense of intrigue and mystery. There is no information on the back, so we must guess where we are. I'm going to assume somewhere in California.

A line of children
In this great square snap, we have a gaggle of children. Why were they in the middle of a field? Was it a field trip, or perhaps their backyard. Also, what is that crds hatching effect all over the print? At first I thought it was a fence, but it looks to be something else, perhaps something during development. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'll never grow up
This photo has one of the best shadows i have ever seen. I love how both the photographer and the woman's shadow seem to tower over them. It feels just like peter pan. For them, it was probably just a side effect, they were more interested in the dress.

A man on each arm
Such a great freeze frame of some of the fashion of the era. I just adore the sailor themed outfit the girl is wearing. It must have been pretty muddy out, as they appear to have rain boots on. There is nothing on the other side to tell where in the world we are. Maybe its better to just guess.

It's called fashion
One of the best parts about old photos is seeing the different fashions. You can see how trends of today come from the older generations. Here is a great dress that shows off an era. Made of practical materials, serviceable, yet fashionable, with a high waist and collar. As well as the dress being tinted, the woman herself is as well. She appears to be standing by some sort of monument, possibly at a museum. Her Beau was probably on the other side of the camera on their day out.

Paradise, Hawaiian Style
I doubt these two ran into Elvis on their trip to the Aloha state, but I'm sure they had some fun. They look as if the three of them had just landed, with their suitcases by their sides. Off to find adventure of their own, we must leave them, for the rest of their trip has vanished into thin air

Square in the middle
I just love this photo. The framing and focus is superb, and you can really see just how much fun both of them are having. The setting brings back great memories of being out in the park. Overall, just a lovely snapshot of a lazy day spent together in sweet content.

Fashion
It's common knowledge that fashion trends tend to repeat themselves, with leg warmers and bell bottoms coming and going. But I have a sneaking suspicion that these styling choices won't be making a comeback anytime soon. Based on the writing in the background, this was taken in Russia or another eastern block country.

C'mere you
I love the smiles in this photo. you can see the love in their eyes as they gaze at one another. They look so natural together, arm in arm. I like the use of landscape in this shot, and them being a little off centre helps the photo a great deal.

Framing
I love how this was printed on the wrong paper. Unless this was meant to be like this for people to write on the bottom. There aren't that many photos of people sleeping, which is a shame. Some can be hilarious, but some can be quite unnerving. It makes you think if this is how you look. This one seems very calming.

Something about Britain
The background in this photo just screams England. With all the spiralling turrets made from sturdy stone, hundreds of years old, and the clusters of houses beside it. Even the clothes look the part. I wonder if this boy was the only child in this family, or if the rest had already grown up.

Beach weather
If only it was warm here. Its still snowing up here. But at leased we can look at some nice photographic evidence that summer still exists. This one has great perspective, but you can't really tell who the photographer was trying to snap. The pattern on the front mans shirt sums up such an era.
