Pik Nik
I guess I've been a little neglectful of updating posts here lately. I blame the summer heat, it makes everyone a little forgetful. These people were probably enjoying one of those lazy, hot afternoons as well. I love all of these haircuts, especially the girl in the front with her hairpin to the side.

It's called fashion
One of the best parts about old photos is seeing the different fashions. You can see how trends of today come from the older generations. Here is a great dress that shows off an era. Made of practical materials, serviceable, yet fashionable, with a high waist and collar. As well as the dress being tinted, the woman herself is as well. She appears to be standing by some sort of monument, possibly at a museum. Her Beau was probably on the other side of the camera on their day out.

Something about Britain
The background in this photo just screams England. With all the spiralling turrets made from sturdy stone, hundreds of years old, and the clusters of houses beside it. Even the clothes look the part. I wonder if this boy was the only child in this family, or if the rest had already grown up.

Glasses you could fry ants with
These glasses were the reason that the term "Coke bottle lenses" was invented. You can't even see her eyes, but that could just be the camera angle. Im guessing this was shot in a rural area, judging by the PVC pipe and pen in the background. I wonder how old she was. Definitely over 90, but how close to 100? Your guess is as good as mine.

Fresh Fruits!
A lovely photo of a small town crookery store, before huge chains like Sobey's or COOP. Outside with all its fresh bananas and watermelons. The sing says "Wise's Grocery -- 32----" Who knows where it is, but judging from all of the exotic fruits, probably not Canada.

Hark! A portrait!
Most of the other photos on this blog have been snapshots. This is A professional shot, most likely taken in a studio. Some collectors don't count these professional shots as "real" vernacular photographs. You could make a point that Snapshots are more "raw", and show off everything and includes all the mistakes of double exposures and the like. But thats only thinking about them as photos, but all these vernacular shots are not merely pictures, they are 3d physical items that you can touch and hold. All that aside, Regardless, this is a great shot. You can see directly into her eyes. Her clothes are also very interesting. You could imagine someone wearing that exact outfit today and be considered trendy.

Just a boat
This image is oddly calming, yet creepy. It feels like it belongs in Miss Perigrins Home for Peculiar Children, a book I cannot recommend enough. It just has a mysterious vibe to it. I can't tell for sure but I think this is from the 30s based on the paper. This is a response to The new found photography's post.
